Norwegian architecture firm Code have released images and a timelapse video of the unusual Viewpoint Gaularfjell being built. Perched 2,300 feet above sea level, the precarious location is said to have made transporting materials, and developing the spikes, a challenge. Workers are said to be making the final phase touches to the simple structure, which is scheduled to open in summer this year. When it opens, visitors to Norway's National Tourist Route Gaularfjellet will be able to experience the scenic stopover during their road trips. The viewpoint follows the construction of a similarly terrifying structure which opened in China last year. Eight houses have been swept into the sea in the Norwegian Arctic after a powerful landside near the town of Alta.

The landslide Wednesday was filmed by local resident Jan Egil Bakkedal who said he ran for his life when he realised what was happening.

One of the houses that was lost belonged to him.

Police said the landslide in the village of Kraakneset was between 650 meters and 800 meters wide.

We visit Kristiansand in springtime, a beautiful small city by the sea in southern Norway. Staying at a hotel near the Cathedral in the middle of Kvadraturen, where the Old Town is located, we go sightseeing on foot. We are fascinated by an astonishingly artistic mural, and we walk along the waterfront to see the boat-life, the swans, ducks and loud seagulls, as well as Christiansholm Fortress and The Fish Quay (with its famous restaurant Bølgen & Moi, see thumbnail). We also stroll through The Old Town, and we take a longer, very peaceful walk to the peninsula Odderøya, with its lovely scenery and cultural heritage (military fortifications from world war II). Finally we visit Baneheia and Ravnedalen Nature Park, where we get a glimpse of a shy deer and a (small) bird eyes view of the city center. This footage is from before the pandemic.

The grand panoramas of Norway prove irresistible to adventurers. In Oslo, we see testaments to maritime prowess in Viking Ships and the celebrated Kon Tiki raft. We "Scream" with painter Edvard Munch before heading south to the glorious vistas of Telemark country. After dropping by the home of playwright Henrik Ibsen, we're off to a boisterous celebration of Norwegian village life, complete with traditional costumes, dancing and potato pancakes. Next it's a ride on Europe's most spectacular railway and a boat cruise through the impossibly beautiful scenery of the fjords. We experienced one of the most beautiful and popular fjords in Norway - NÆRØYFJORD. Took a trip as well to witness the amazing views of Flam to Myrdal via the Flamsbana railway.

And because I fell inlove with the views just seeing it from the pictures, we booked our hotel in Flam itself for a few days before flying to Lofoten Islands.
